First week of kindergarten = learning ALL the thin

First week of kindergarten = learning ALL the things that have nothing to do with academics. 😂❤️
This week we practiced…
✏️ How to hold a pencil
✂️ How to hold and use scissors
👀 Eyes watching, ears listening & bodies ready
🗣️ Voice levels and classroom expectations
📅 Our daily schedule and routines
🧮 How we use classroom tools and manipulatives
🧺 Where everything belongs (and how to put it back! 🙌)
👍 Making great choices vs. poor choices
❤️ And LOTS and LOTS of practicing!
The first week isn’t about how much academic content we can squeeze in. It’s about slowing down and teaching our kinders HOW to do school.
We modeled it. We practiced it. We practiced it again. And just when I thought they had it…we practiced it one more time. 😂
Taking the time to build these routines now is what will make everything else possible later.
Week ONE is officially in the books! 🍎✏️❤️

Spring break = teacher reset mode ☀️
After months of standing, walking in the classroom, and being on my feet all day, my teacher feet were ready for a break.
Slipping into these @oofos OOahh+ slides feels like instant recovery.
Honestly… this might be my official spring break uniform now 😅
