In kindergarten (and beyond), it’s important for students to know how to write complete sentences. This can be difficult for students to do without some guidance. That’s why I love to help students write sentences with sentence building activities that are interactive and effective!
What is Sentence Building?
Sentence building is the process of putting all the pieces necessary into a sentence. For example, every sentence needs a subject or a noun. The sentence also needs a verb or an action. Once students understand this basic concept, you can help them add adjectives and adverbs to make their writing colorful! However, this doesn’t always come naturally. That’s why I like to use these sentence building activities from my store, Adventures in Kinder and Beyond!
Use Sight Words to Build Sentences
We all use sight words in our classroom. Therefore, they are a perfect tool to use for a sentence building. This is an interactive activity that has student reading, building, and writing sight word sentences. The best part is they are versatile! You can use them for whole group instruction, in small groups, or as a literacy center!
