Amazon is a treasure trove of all sorts of teaching tools! All teachers know that; however, new teachers might not know where to begin because there are so many different things from organizers to practical things like cardstock. That’s why I start making my wish list in the summer so I can decide what I need. Here are the 10 Amazon resources for new teachers that I suggest.
Storage Baskets
One thing you can never seem to have enough of is storage baskets! When you use these colorful storage baskets in your classroom, you can designate each color to a subject for an easy turn in place. You can also use this amazon resource for new teachers to organize your centers by color coding each one. If you don’t need them for students, you can also use them for organizing markers, crayons, and other office supplies.
A Teacher Tool Box
Something that always gets messed up in my classroom is all the little supplies. I am talking about the googly eyes, small pieces of velcro, paper clips, and other small things. That’s why this teacher toolbox is one of the essential Amazon resources for new teachers you need in your classroom. If you add some labels whether you use words or visual labels, you and your students will easily be able to find the supplies you need.
Make a Label
Whenever I put anything anywhere, I swear I am not going to lose it. Well, that lasts until I have to go find it. That’s why these colorful labels are a great Amazon resource for new teachers. When you use colorful labels in your classroom, you can continue to color code a variety of things like your supplies and centers. You can also just use them as a decorative way to label items.
Scissors…for You!
Getting scissors for your students should be the responsibility of the district. However, you are going to want a good pair of scissors or three because they will disappear. As a teacher, you’re going to be cutting out lots of things for students, especially if they are too young to do some of the fine motor skills that cutting requires. You’ll also want a good pair of scissors to cut out all those fun center pieces.
An Interactive Bulletin Board
Decorating your classroom is one of the best feelings. You know you are starting a fresh year and for new teachers it’s your chance to express yourself. This Chalkboard Bulletin Board Paper is great to use in the classroom! You can use it as simple black, or you can use colorful chalk and let your students decorate it with your guidance. This creates a fun and unique classroom set up for you. Plus, it is easy and inexpensive to change up!
Organize with Zipper Pouches
Speaking of those learning center pieces, you want to keep them organized! I know when I take the time to cut out and laminate all those things, I get really feisty when I have to do it again. That’s why these reusable zipper pouches are fantastic to use! They are durable so you can use them year after year. Plus, they have different colors that you can coordinate with your centers if you choose to color code.
Hang It Up Amazon Resource for New Teachers
Hanging things up in the classroom is one way to display student work and to hand up valuable resources like your word wall. Instead of spending time rolling tape, you can use these adhesive dots. These dots are great not just for hanging up artwork and resources, you can also use them as part of class art projects. These are less messy than glue and can come in handy for a quick art project you are working on.
Reuse Your Magnetic Dots
Sometimes we have things in our classroom that we want to hang up and then take down. That’s where these adhesive magnetic dots are great. I love this for using a clock on the white board so I can change the time for centers. It’s also great if your sight words are on something that you can stick a magnet to. This makes it easier for you to hang them up and take them down.
The Essential Amazon Resource for New Teachers: Cardstock
If there is anything that I always use in my classroom, it’s cardstock! Having strong paper to hang up different signs, do art projects, and more is a must in any teacher’s classroom. Since students can have a hard time keeping things nice, using cardstock is a bit harder to destroy. In addition, you can also use cardstock and laminate it for a resource that will last a long time. Beyond all of that, cardstock is great because it comes in so many different colors it makes it easier to color code!
A New Teacher Needs a Personal Laminator
In order to keep all those learning center pieces and your more permanent classroom decor nice, you’ll want to laminate them. Having your own personal laminator will make this so much better for you! While some schools have a laminator teachers can use, usually there is some line to use it or you have to be there super early to get in line. Having your own laminator eliminates all of that. This inexpensive laminator can be something you requisition for or keep and use at home too.
Laminating Sheets
If you are someone who likes to do some laminating, then you need the laminator and the laminating pouches. Unlike using a large laminator which can waste a lot of laminating supplies, these laminating pouches are perfect for laminating a standard size piece of paper. In addition, because it is smaller, it’s easier to cut out which saves you time!
There are so many different Amazon resources for new teachers it’s hard to know where to start. However, this list of 10 Amazon resources is a great start for any teacher. I love having all of these tools in my classroom to make my classroom more organized and my teacher life easier.
I agree with you! The magnetic dots, laminator, card stock and storage baskets are on my must have list. I would also add a paper cutter and quality pencil sharpener. Now I want to try those adhesive dots and zipper pouches. Thanks!
I love my wireless doorbell to get their attention and my 30 second dance party button for movement breaks.
Totally agree with the laminator and cardstock!! I’ve been using the zippered pouches to store some of my things…… definitely a game changer!!!
